Our Story

Maci•Roo brings craft and community back to the heart of Main Street in Canandaigua. We are preparing to open our doors this year with the hope of giving more people the chance to work with their hands and experience the quiet satisfaction of making something their own.

The studio is designed to feel steady and open. It will be a place for all skill levels, whether you are brand new to clay or have been working at it for years. Here, making is about presence rather than perfection.

We invite you to create, gather, shop, or simply spend time in the space. However you arrive, we hope you feel at home.

THE SPACE

  • A curated selection of handmade ceramics, sculpture, paintings, photography, textiles, glasswork, woodcraft, and small handmade furniture. The gallery will also include artist curated kits for individuals who want to explore a medium on their own, such as watercolor kits or beginner creative boxes designed to inspire first-time makers.

  • Twelve wheels, a handbuilding area, glaze room, tools, firing operations, worktables, and storage. A large glass wall allows visitors to see the making process, creating a connection between the shop and the studio.

  • A flexible teaching space for youth art classes, adult classes, workshops, visiting artist sessions, club gatherings, and community requests. Opens to an outdoor patio for warm weather programming.

  • Connected to our ground level patio for gatherings, workshops, and seasonal community events. A rooftop patio offering a serene retreat for guests and visiting artists.

  • Two thoughtfully designed lodging spaces that reflect the aesthetic and creative tone of the studio. These support tourism, visiting artists, and future stay and create packages.
